"Naja" means "Crescent" in Navajo. Its origins date back thousands of years and has influenced many cultures throughout time.
The Naja was brought to the America's by the Spanish explorers. It adorned the forehead of their horses and considered a symbol for protection and to ward off evil.
Native Americans were then inspired by this talisman and incorporated it into their jewelry. The Naja is commonly seen in Navajo "Squash blossom" necklaces.
